Just got done installing AWStats. Primary usage is for web logs, but it can be switched to analyzing mail logs. Installation was pretty straight forward. Of course, I only had about a half days worth of mail log, but the graphs look pretty. ;-)
Still got one problem to solve, getting the update function to run before rotating mail logs. Might have to un-modify periodic's daily command.
Will advise which course I take.

I'll have to get back to you on this. I lost my install notes when the disk crashed on my home machine before I printed them (shoots self in foot). However, I just checked the mail server and the .bash_history file still covers the AWStats install. Also, I dumped the AWStats configure script output to a text file, so I should be able to reconstruct what I did.
IIRC, it wasn't a difficult install and the install script does most of the heavy lifting. The PITA was modifying the config file to read mail log instead of web logs. A lot of hunting for lines to change, though there is a template to tell you what to change. Depending on your usage, you can have both mail and web config files to access both log files.
Don't know your country, but it's a long holiday weekend and I'll be leaving Wednesday evening and won't be back till Sunday. Sorry.
